Accessing your webmail:
- In a web browser, go to https://webmail.[your domain]
- You will be prompted for username and password. Your username is your full email address and your password is the password for your email account.
- You will now have a choice of three different email clients: Horde, SquirrelMail and Round Cube. If you are familiar with one and want to keep that as your default client then click '[Enable AutoLoad ]' beneath the correct logo. Otherwise select one and see if you're comfortable with it.
Which flavour of webmail?
Horde – This is our preferred webmail tool; it has the most functionality and a clean design which makes it easy to use. This looks and acts like an everyday web client such as Microsoft Outlook or Hotmail. The only downside is that many of the commands (Reply, Delete, etc.) are in quite small text and you have to get used to where they're located on the page.
SquirrelMail – We would recommend you avoid using this webmail tool unless you are already familiar with it. It is very basic compared with the other two and therefore has less functionality. For example it is very time consuming deleting emails due to no 'check all' option.
RoundCube – This is our recommended alternative to Horde. This is prettier than Horde and feels more interactive. The only downside is that the icons & buttons don't have labels on them, so at first you have to guess and then get used to what's what, though this doesn't take long.
I can't see my emails in webmail. Where are they?
Webmail is a way of accessing emails while they are on the server, before you download them. If have already downloaded the emails (e.g. using POP3) they may have been deleted from the server. Once they're gone, webmail can't see them anymore.
Note: Only your webmail inbox will be downloaded. If you send a message from webmail, you may wish to cc (or bcc) to yourself so you are guaranteed a copy. Also avoid creating and using folders on webmail if you also use an email program, such as Microsoft Outlook, because only emails in the Inbox will be downloaded.
